Police learned of the murder from Slovacek’s granddaughter, who escaped from the home after allegedly being sexually assaulted by Lee for several hours before her getaway.

Hours after the standoff began Lee surrendered to Burleson County Sheriff’s Deputies, Texas Rangers and troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and was arrested was arrested. Unable to pay the $2.5 million dollar bond, Lee remains an inmate at the Burleson County Jail.

The decision on whether or not prosecutors will seek the death penalty will be made by Burleson County District Attorney Elect Julie Renken who takes office in January.
