COLLEGE STATION A College Station man faces three counts of Credit or Debit Card Abuse after using the card of a friend who was in jail.
Zachary Jordan Grubbs, 18, is in the Brazos County Jail after allegedly using a friend's debit card without his permission. On October 25, 2013, Salomon Durocher told College Station police that someone had made unauthorized purchases on his debit card. According to investigators, Durocher said he thought he knew who it might be. Detectives pulled ATM surveillance video to identify Grubbs. A CSPD officer recognized him and remembered he was in possession of Durocher's wallet during a traffic stop earlier that month.
Durocher told police that he trusted Grubbs to watch over his personal things while he was in jail, but didn't give him permission to use his debit card. Durocher learned his card had been used after learning his account had a negative balance. The charges on his card came from local businesses. There were also at least two withdrawals from ATM's for approximately $203.00.
Grubbs was arrested Thursday morning and booked into the Brazos County Jail. No bond has been set.
