A Madison County man has been arrested after leading authorities on a high speed chase following a hit and run accident.
37 year old Craigus Goffney was arrested over the weekend after the crash early Saturday morning.
Sheriff's deputies began to pursue into Grimes County on County Road 179 east of State Highway 90.
Officials say Goffney rammed his car into the patrol car before driving forward and ramming back into the patrol car again.
A deputy ordered Goffney to exit the vehicle, but he fled and the pursuit continued west on Highway 30 towards Highway 90 in Roans Prairie.
Deputies shut down the intersection at 30 and 90 but Goffney spread through it and towards Carlos at speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour.
The chase continued into Madison County and authorities fired shots at Goffney's car in an attempt to stop him but he continued north on FM 39.
DPS Troopers deployed spikes at 39 and highway 21 in Madison county but Goffney surrendered before driving over them.
