BRYAN – A father is arrested after leading police on a chase with his 6-year-old son and cocaine in the front seat.

Police were serving a warrant for parole violation on DaChristopher Harrison. When they arrived at his home on Staunton Drive, police say Harrison backed out of his drive way. Police pulled in front of him and turned on their overhead lights.

Officers noticed Harrison’s son was in the passenger seat. Harrison hesitated for a second, then put the car in reverse.

Police say Harrison was going about 40 miles per hour, in reverse, when his Tahoe hit the SUV of another officer arriving on scene. He kept going, driving into a front yard, through a chain link fence and into a telephone pole.

Harrison refused to unlock the doors or put up his hands. Police eventually used a baton to break out a back window. At that point, Harrison unlocked the doors. Police grabbed his son out of the passenger seat. Harrison had to climb out the same side because of damage to his SUV.

Police say they found 28 baggies of cocaine on his front seat/floorboard and $660 in Harrison’s pocket. He said he got the money by mowing lawns for his cousin. He also told police he uses drugs, but does not sell them.

Harrison is charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance between 4 and 200 grams, Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, Endangering a Child, DWLI Enhanced, and two warrants – parole violation and no driver’s license
