March of Dimes Walk Draws Hundreds In College Station

Updated: Sat 6:54 PM, May 05, 2012

It's a march with a message in College Station.

Saturday morning an estimated 800-plus people walked in the annual March of Dimes fundraising event at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater.

This year's goal is to raise $135,000 for the organization which raises awareness and funds research to better understand and prevent premature births.

"March of Dimes started out as a way to eliminate polio and we eradicated polio years ago and now we've moved on to a higher mission I think, which is to help prevent premature birth in children," said Erik Scott, Chairman of the Board for B/CS March of Dimes.

News 3's very own Meredith Stancik and Steve Fullhart emceed the event.
