MILAM COUNTY - A pickup truck crash with an 18-wheeler truck Monday night near the Burleson-Milam County line killed the father of a 5-year-old girl.

His daughter was airlifted to Temple as a precaution, but amazingly was not seriously injured.

Troopers say the father and daughter were not wearing seat-belts and troopers had been searching for the vehicle after receiving several calls about it driving recklessly in Burleson County.

News 3 was on scene early Tuesday morning and shares the latest details on the crash.

Mangled metal made this Chevy Silverado barely recognizable from the front.

The driver 33-year-old Adam Apollo Alderman of Milano was killed after State Troopers say his pickup and an 18-wheeler collided around 10 P.M. Monday on Highway 36, about 5 miles south of Milano.

His five-year-old-daughter was airlifted to Scott and White Children's Hospital in Temple but now a close family friend tell us she's been able to return home and is expected to be ok.

The crash shut down traffic in both directions for more than three hours.

Rebecca Luckey of Rockdale waited that long to get home.

"Yes just a little after 10 P.M. I came up upon the accident and I've just been sitting here since, so it's been about two hours or a little over two hours now. No activity," she said.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Lazarro Guzman-Duran of Houston was not injured and could be seen walking around after the crash.

As for the pickup driver, friends tell us Alderman worked at a flooring company.

Facebook photos capture some happier times with his daughter.

"Oh it's definitely if there's a loss of life it's a horrible accident and we just pray for the family that has lost a loved one," said Luckey.

DPS Troopers are continuing to investigate the cause of that accident.

They believe the pickup for some reason crossed into the path of the 18-wheel truck and was sideswiped.
