CSPD are investigating a major accident that occurred at the intersection of Luther St. W. and FM 2818 at 2:44 a.m. Saturday. Police said when they arrived, they found a black Ford Mustang had turned from westbound Luther St. W. to southbound FM 2818. Police determined the driver of the Mustang, Kurt Kleypas, 20 of Spring lost control of the vehicle, driving into opposing lanes of traffic. As a result, he struck a taxicab that was headed north on FM 2818. That portion of the roadway was closed to traffic for a short time, but has since been reopened.
The driver of the taxicab suffered minor injury as a result and was transported to the hospital. Kleypas was investigated and cited for Driving Under the Influence-Minor.
The accident is still under investigation. If you have information you may call the College Station Police Department at 979-764-3600.
