A College Station woman is helping a family in need.
Four College Station boys lost both their parents. Their mother passed away in October. Less than 3 months later, their father suffered a fatal heart attack. Debbie Shaw's son and 10 year-old Tyler flowers are classmates.
When she first heard about Tyler and his three brothers--Conner, Justin and Brandon's tragedy, she wanted to help.
Shaw said, "It's going to take a lot of financial needs. College, you know, no college for them, possibly. We need to make sure their education will be paid for. I know their utility bill is $814 dollars and it was due in December."
Shaw, a store employee at Kroger, went to her managers with a plan. She's organized a barbecue for January 29th. It will be held at the Kroger on Rock Prairie Road. All proceeds go to the Flowers' family.
Co-manager, Eric Bumbaugh said, "We're really proud of Debbie. It's a tragedy. Anything we can do...any support from the community would really help these guys out."
