Motorcyclist Killed In Highway 6 Accident

On April 29, 2012 at 3:31 am, the Bryan Police Department responded to a major accident in the 600 block of N. Earl Rudder Freeway just south of Briarcrest Dr. Once on scene, the Bryan Police Department and the Bryan Fire Department discovered a fatality accident between a motorcycle and semi truck and trailer. The Traffic Safety Unit, the Criminal Investigations Division, and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to investigate.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2007 Yamaha YZF600R was traveling northbound on Highway 6 in the outside lane just south of Briarcrest Dr. The witnesses stated that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before impacting the rear of the semi’s trailer that was also traveling northbound in the outside lane of N. Earl Rudder Freeway. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace Vera Lara-Hooge. An autopsy was ordered by the JP. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet. The driver of the semi truck was not injured during the accident.

The deceased was identified as Michael Daniell, a 31 year old male from Bryan, Texas. Highway 6 northbound was closed for approximately 5 hours during the investigation. There were no other vehicles or passengers involved in the accident.
