ROBERTSON COUNTY - State Troopers say they threw out spike strips on Highway 6 near Bremond to end a car chase that started in the McLennan county town of Riesel, about 30 miles away Friday night.
Investigators say it started when an officer attempted to pull over an S-U-V during a traffic stop. That's when they claim the driver took off.
During the pursuit, State Troopers estimated that the chase speed never got higher than 60 miles an hour. They say on a second attempt of throwing spike strips in front of the fleeing vehicle, the S-U-V came to a stop and the driver was arrested.
Additional information about the driver and the cause of the chase were not given as of late Friday.
