Multiple Drug Arrests Land Bryan Man Prison Time

With four drug-related arrests over 22 months, a Bryan man is now headed for a prison sentence.

Guadalupe Cocino, 31, agreed to a plea deal Friday on five total charges, and will spend upwards of 17 years behind bars.

Cocino was first arrested May 26, 2011 for possessing methamphetamine and alprazolam with intent to deliver the drugs.

Then, on October 27, 2011, Cocino was arrested for tampering with evidence and again possessing meth.

He also has an evading arrest charge that was part of Friday's sentence.

The agreement looks like this:

-manufacture delivery of a controlled substance, 4-200 grams (methamphetamine) - 17 years in prison

- manufacture delivery of a controlled substance, more than 28 grams (alprazolam) - 24 months in state jail

- tampering with evidence - 10 years in prison

- manufacture delivery of a controlled substance, less than one gram - 24 months in state jail

In addition, Cocino has been arrested twice in the last two months on drug charges and an evading arrest charge. For the latter, he agreed to a plea deal for 365 days in the Brazos County jail.

The sentences will run concurrently.

"Cocino was playing a major role in the amount of methamphetamine being brought into this county," Assistant District Attorney Kara Comte said in a statement. "The Bryan Police Department did a very good job of zeroing in on Cocino and seeing that he was sent to prison for a significant amount of time. We appreciate the amount of time the police spent investigating Cocino and for the work they put into the case."
