Two people have died, and 5 are in the hospital after two trucks collided in College Station late Saturday night.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 19-year-old Taylor Leonard from Houston died from her injuries at the College Station Medical Center. Police say she was the driver of the 2008 Dodge pickup involved in the crash.
According to CSPD, around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, a 2008 Dodge pickup was pulling out of a private driveway in the 1300 block of FM 2818 in order to turn north when it was hit on the driver side by a 2006 model truck. Both vehicles were sent across 2818 and to the opposite side of the road.
Six people were in the 2008 model truck, some of whom had to be extricated. Four were taken to the College Station Medical Center for treatment. Two were sent to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, along with the lone person in the 2006 truck.
Nathan Hardcastle, 20 of Cypress, was one of the six inside the first truck. He was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the collision.
CSPD notes "several" others are in critical condition. Their identities were not released.
Nathan Walker Hardcastle was a sophomore at Texas A&M University studying ecological restoration. A Facebook page for Hardcastle notes he graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 2011.
Roads in the area were closed through late Saturday and into early Sunday morning as authorities worked the scene. CSPD noted around 5:00 a.m. that 2818 had been reopened.
An investigation in the accident continues. CSPD's Criminal Investigations Division is part of it. There were reports of a crime scene unit on the scene Saturday night.
