Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
BRYAN - Thirty-two months after a shooting at a Brazos County club left one person dead, a murder trial is underway.
Jury selection was held Monday at the Brazos County Courthouse for Brandon Keith Richardson, with opening arguments set for Tuesday.
The Navasota resident is accused of shooting and killing Brice Bennett in October 2011.
Richardson told police he had intended to fire shots into the air to break up a fight between two patrons in the Neal's Hideaway parking lot off of FM 159 in Millican, but Bennett, a 22-year-old Brenham resident who Richardson said was his best friend, ended up dead.
Originally, Richardson was charged with manslaughter, but when a Brazos County grand jury indicted the now-29-year-old in February 2012, the charge was first-degree murder, which carries up to 99 years in prison with a conviction.
