Tanker Truck Fire Forces Temporary Closure Of Highway 6

SOUTH BRAZOS COUNTY - UPDATE: All lanes of northbound Hwy 6 are reopen.

Traffic on Highway 6 is reduced to one lane in South Brazos County.

State Troopers say the brakes of the tires on a tanker truck caught fire just south of Texas World Speedway.

Firefighters have put out the fire and no one was injured.

Troopers temporarily diverted traffic to FM 159. Traffic will be reduced to one lane until a tow truck removes the big rig.


2:00 p.m.
Northbound Highway 6 is closed at FM 159 in South Brazos County.

State troopers are diverting traffic onto FM 159.

News 3 is waiting on word as to why the road is closed, but we have received reports of smoke in the area.
