Most every hotel on University Drive is full.

“I mean it's like an A&M home football game and they're sending teams to Hearne and Navasota,” said Greg Huchingson.

Restaurants are packed and businesses across the Brazos Valley are booming.

What started as a fundraiser 28 years ago -- has turned into the largest slow-itch adult softball tournament in the nation. It's called the Budweiser Softball Festival and founder Greg Huchingson says he never imagined the tournament would garner so much attention across the world.

“We just started out as a fundraiser so that we could travel for our local teams and it just continued to grow and grow,” said Huchingson.

Although the fields at Veterans Park were closed early Friday afternoon -- that won't be the case come 7 o'clock as more than 300 teams from across the world stake claim to 17 softball diamonds at every softball venue in the area.

"Games are played around-the-clock at all 5 softball venues in Bryan-College Station: Veterans Park, Bryan Regional Athletic Complex, Central Park, Bee Creek Park and Haswell/Lions Park,” Huchingson said.

While it might be packed, Hutchinson assures all softball fans - it's a free and fun event for the whole family.
