New Construction Coming to Wolf Pen Creek Park

Updated: Fri 11:00 PM, Jul 13, 2012

Changes are coming to the Wolf Pen Creek park area in College Station.

A $900,000 construction contract has been approved to create a festival area, including a lighted concrete trail, water and electrical hookups for vendors and additional parking.

The money comes from the tax increment financing zone created years ago for the area.

Construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks and take the rest of the year to complete.

"What this will allow us to do is to expand on existing events that happen at that facility where we can utilize that large acreage that we have there, and bring in cook-offs, large activities where we're bringing in a lot of tents and vehicles and things like that," said College Station Parks and Rec Director David Schmitz.
