A new exhibit on Texas history is on display at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park.

The Star of the Republic Museum unveiled the Slice of Life exhibit this month in recognition of Texas Independence Day.

The display features pictures and artifacts from the community of Washington in the1830's when it was a boom town in the early days when Texas became its own country.

"It's not a thriving town right now and hasn't been for a long time and that's mainly because they didn't buy into the railroad. Had the opportunity of the railroad, it passed on by and so it still is an existing town," said Sheri Finke, Public Programs Coordinator for Star Of The Republic Museum.

The Star Of The Republic Museum is open 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. each day at Washington-On-The-Brazos State Park.
