FORT WORTH, Texas - - A North Texas anti-drunken driving enforcement officer is on restricted duty after his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving.

A Fort Worth Police Department statement says Chief Jeffrey Halstead took the action Wednesday after Keller police arrested 32-year-old Officer Nicolas Ramirez arrested in the adjacent suburb Westlake.

Keller provides Westlake's police services. A Keller police spokeswoman told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Ramirez was stopped at 1 a.m. Wednesday after his sport utility vehicle was seen weaving out of its lane. The spokeswoman said two breath tests revealed Ramirez's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

The four-year Fort Worth police veteran declined to comment to The Associated Press.

The Star-Telegram reports 19 Fort Worth police officers have been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving since 2008.
