President Barack Obama is continuing his praise today of four Americans killed in an attack on a U.S. Consulate in Libya.
In his weekly media message, Obama also denounces the violence and anti-U.S. mob protests in other Arab countries, apparently sparked by an anti-Muslim video made in the United States.
He says that without people like the four who died, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, "America could not sustain the freedoms we enjoy, the security we demand, and the leadership that the entire world counts on."
For the Republicans, Florida Rep. Allen West of Florida called on Obama to work with Congress to replace what he calls "deeply destructive," across-the-board spending cuts scheduled to take effect in early January. West says the cuts are a serious threat to national security.
