DALLAS (AP) A dive team has recovered a weapon from a North Texas lake that authorities say was used in the slaying last year of a Kaufman County prosecutor.
A law enforcement official familiar with the investigation said Wednesday the weapon was retrieved from Lake Tawakoni. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak publicly on the case.
The official says the firearm used to kill Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse last year was retrieved March 5 by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Former county Justice of the Peace Eric Williams and his wife, Kim, face capital murder charges in the deaths of Hasse, the district attorney and his wife.
DPS would not comment. A message left with the sheriff was not immediately returned.
