A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for south Brazos and Grimes counties until 7:00pm. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Lee, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, and Walker counties until 6:45pm. A TORNADO WATCH has been issued for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties. until 10pm. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Milam, Robertson, Leon Counties until 9pm Monday, for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery,San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties until 12am Tuesday, and for Lee county until 1am Tuesday. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Lee county until 12:15am Tuesday, Milam and Robertson counties until 7:30pm, Leon, Brazos, and Burleson counties until 8:15pm. An additional widespread 1" to 3" rain accumulations are possible through the evening, with locally higher amounts possible.
BIG SUR, Calif. (AP) - A wildfire that has burned more than a dozen homes in the Big Sur area of central California is now 20 percent contained.
Los Padres National Forest spokeswoman Lynn Olson says the blaze that began early Monday has destroyed 22 buildings. About 14 of those structures were homes, including that of Big Sur Fire Chief Martha Karstens.
No injuries have been reported.
The fire has burned about 769 acres, or a little over a square mile. The cause is still under investigation.
Big Sur is a popular tourist destination along the Central California coast with high-end resorts and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.
