Officials believe that slick conditions may have played a role in a fatal crash in Montgomery County.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. Thursday evening in New Caney.

According to DPS, a Nissan Maxima was heading east on FM 1485 near Loop 494 when a Mazda RX7 convertible spun out of control, sliding directly into the of the Nissan.

The Nissan struck the passenger side of the Mazda.

The passenger in that Mazda, 18 year old Adrian Hernandez, was killed on impact.

The driver, Hernandez's 19 year old brother Eric, was transported to Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands in critical condition.

30 year old Nahum Reyes, the driver of the Nissan, was taken to Hermann with chest pains and is in stable condition.

DPS Troopers say unsafe speed may have also played a role in the crash but alcohol is not believed to be involved.
