NEAR COLLEGE STATION – A construction worker was injured when wall of dirt collapsed on the track hoe he was operating.
The accident happened at a gravel excavation site on private land off Old Jones Road in Brazos County just after 11 this morning.
Precinct 4 Volunteer firefighters used hydraulic tools to pry the worker out of the track hoe.
“We had a 45 minute extrication and by the time we got him out, the helicopter was here to transport,” said Joe Ondrasek, Brazos County Precinct 4 Fire Chief. “There's no investigation this is just an accident on private property.”
The fire department says the construction worker was conscious and talking. He was taken by helicopter to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan with leg injuries.
