WASHINGTON COUNTY - A Washington County property owner found an abandoned airplane in his pasture early Tuesday morning.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety were notified and responded to the scene on Eberhardt Road just south of Somerville Lake.

The man who owns the land discovered the plane when he went to the pasture to feed his cattle.

The pilot has been contacted by Troopers and said he was not hurt during the emergency landing in the field.

Authorities say it appears he had some mechanical troubles with the plane and used the pasture to safely land the aircraft.

The FAA has been notified of the incident and the pilot is making arrangements to get a mechanic to the plane.

It's unclear if he'll be able to fly the plane out or if he'll have to have it transported away on the ground.
