ROBERTSON COUNTY- The man who was accused of killing a Houston-area man in at the Executive Inn in Hearne back in 2008 pleaded no contest to criminal negligent homicide this week.
28-year-old Trae Thompson will serve 15 months in prison for the brutal beating of Hank Johnson, who died 11 days after the attack. Thompson already has credit for about 10 months served.
Investigators traced two guitars stolen from Hank Johnson's motel room the night of the attack to Thompson.
His attorneys say a jury trial might have provided a better outcome, but they say Thompson wanted the process to end quickly to bring closure to everyone involved.
