Police: Drunk Bicyclist Pulls Out Machete

An apparent intoxicated bicyclist pedaling along Highway 290 in Brenham early Wednesday morning caught the eye of a police sergeant after he knocked over traffic cones and later pulled out a machete on the officer.

Police say 35-year-old Beethoven Guzman Delgado was observed and followed as he erratically rode his bike down the road. Police say Delgado struck a culvert and crashed his bicycle in the parking lot of the Texas Department of Public Safety office in Washington County.

As the officer approached the cyclist, Delgado allegedly pulled out a machete. After calling for backup, Delgado was arrested, charged with public intoxication and for possessing an illegal weapon.
