Missing Police K9 Found Safe in Madison County

Authorities in Madisonville are searching a missing, four-legged member of their team.

MADISONVILLE - Authorities in Madisonville have found a missing, four-legged member of their team after he disappeared.

Gunny, an eight-year-old black lab who serves as a narcotics dog for the Madisonville Police Department, was discovered missing around 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The K9 had been in his kennel at a home in the 4500 block of Union Road south of Highway 21 between Madisonville and North Zulch.

By Sunday afternoon, search crews located Gunny around three miles away.

MPD says in his two-plus years of service, Gunny has never gone missing. Before his discovery Sunday, he was last seen around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

There are no signs of foul play, according to Madisonville PD.
