DALLAS (AP) Police say a 34-year-old man has been arrested for leaving his five young children in a car while he drank inside a Dallas bar.
Francisco Enrique Lopez was arrested Sunday after a security guard spotted the children in the car and alerted an off-duty officer. They range in age from 9 months to 8 years old.
The Dallas Morning News reports Lopez was drinking at the bar about 3:30 a.m. Police say it's not clear how long he was in the bar, but that it was at least 30 minutes.
Lopez, who lives in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite, is charged with five counts of child abandonment and remained in the Dallas County jail Monday on a $50,000 bond.
Online jail records did not indicate an attorney for Lopez.
