Police Investigating Possible Threat Received at SHSU

Sam Houston State University says Huntsville and campus police are continuing their investigation on a possible threat called in to the university’s Huntsville campus yesterday.

The following update was posted on their Facebook page:
Officials are continuing their investigation. As always, be alert and report any suspicious activity to authorities.

The following notice was posted to Sam Houston State University's homepage:

"Threat Received
On 01-25-2013 The Huntsville Police Department received a call from Huntsville Memorial Hospital in reference to a possible terroristic threat against Sam Houston State University.

Both the Huntsville Police Department and SHSU Police are coordinating their efforts to investigate this potential threat.

The investigation is ongoing. Information or inquiries should be directed to the Huntsville Police Department at 936-581-3004."

An officer with the Huntsville Police Department tells News 3 that the threat was initially called in at approximately 2:40pm. Police say the threat was made by telephone. It is still unclear as to the nature of that threat.

Additional details aren't being released at this time, but as of now, normal activities at the University are not being disrupted according to police.
