A steady stream of people filed into the Brazos County Voter Registration Office Tuesday to turn in their last minute registration applications.

Tuesday, Oct. 9, was the deadline to turn in voter registration applications.

“We've seen a very, very steady influx of especially walk in business this year, which is very unusual,” said Kristeen Roe, Brazos County Tax Assessor/Collector and Voter Registrar. “It’s been a quiet groundswell instead of a sudden crush at the last minute.”

Roe says she's noticed a high interest in this particular election.

“I think the economy has hit people, I think the general interest...people are looking at what's going on and what can I do to have an impact?” said Roe.

The voter registration office was full of college students who say they want their voices to be heard Tuesday.

“Last year I was like no it’s not a big deal, one voice, my mom and dad were like Kristen this is really important you need to vote, all your friends need to vote,” said Kristen Rehkopf, a potential Brazos County Voter.

The Voter Registration Office will continue accepting mail registration applications as long as they were postmarked by Oct. 9, 2012.

If you just need to make a change to your registration, you can do that up until Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.
