COLLEGE STATION - The City of College Station has restored electricity after significant outages across the city Tuesday evening.
CSU says a potential transformer (voltage measuring device) on the 138 kV transmission system failed at Greens Prairie substation, which is located on Old Arrington Road. That caused the substation to go down, and the loss of that substation caused the Southwood and Post Oak substations to lose power.
CSU says 21,000 customers lost power.
The issues started around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
At one time, College Station Police reported they had officers in seven intersections and were still answering regular calls for service.
