Racial comments are what police say started a huge fight which sent a man to the hospital.
Michael Wayne Kennedy, 33, faces a felony charge after police say he slashed 18-year-old Demetric Walker III.
The fight broke out around 5 p.m. yesterday in the house on the 700 block of Dansby Street in Bryan.
Investigators say Walker was saying racial slurs to Kennedy. Kennedy had a knife and slashed Walker on the back. He was taken to Saint Joseph's hospital for minor injuries.
About 10 minutes after Walker was taken to the hospital, police received another call of someone shooting at the same house.
"When officers arrived they discovered that a black male had kicked in the door. Some of the residents inside had chased him out with a knife and, as the black male was leaving, he ended up shooting back at the house and hit one of the windows," said Sgt. Benson Kilgore with the Bryan Police Department.
Investigators are looking for the suspect who fired the shots.
Police say they don't believe alcohol was involved.
