New details are emerging in the San Antonio shooting of a local car dealership general manager.
Early Monday morning, Mike Vivaldi was shot in the parking lot of the Palace Men's Club. He was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. SAMMC officials told News 3 late Tuesday morning that Vivaldi, 33, was in stable condition.
Vivaldi is the GM at Team Ford of Navasota.
According to the San Antonio Police Department's preliminary report, a friend of Vivaldi's told police that three people -- Vivaldi, himself and another friend -- had attended Sunday night's San Antonio Spurs game and went to the gentlemen's club afterwards, all part of a birthday celebration. SAPD noted all three were under the influence of alcohol. The names of Vivaldi's friends were redacted in the report.
As the trio was getting into a cab, Vivaldi's friend said an unknown white male came to the driver's side window and started yelling an obscenity-laced string of words at the group.
The first friend of Vivaldi's told police the trio exited the cab and started walking towards the yelling man, who waved them on towards him. The friend says he then noticed a white female who was with the male. Vivaldi would reportedly go on to remove his shirt as he and his friends moved towards the man.
Eventually, Vivaldi's friend told police the man made it to his pickup truck in the parking lot, pulled out a pistol and aimed it at Vivaldi's other friend. After trying to talk the gunman down, the first friend of Vivaldi's said the man turned the weapon towards Vivaldi and fired multiple shots.
Multiple San Antonio media outlets reported Vivaldi had been hit twice. The police report provided to News 3 redacts the number of shots believed to have been fired, although it states when officers arrived, Vivaldi "appeared to only have one gun shot wound," and that his friends were "applying pressure to (Vivaldi's) top left chest area."
According to the police report, Vivaldi's first friend said the gunman's female acquaintance yelled for the gunman to get in the truck. He reportedly did, only to get back out and point the weapon at the first friend. The woman yelled again for the gunman to get in the vehicle, which he eventually did. The two drove away.
The police report states SAPD knows who the suspects in this case are, though their identities are redacted in the report. They are listed as:
- a 24-year-old white male, 5'8", 170 lbs, bald, wearing a black, short-sleeved shirt and jeans
- a 21-year-old white female, 5'8", 140 lbs, brown hair at shoulder-length
The second friend of Vivaldi's -- the man who had the gun pointed at him first -- also spoke with police, but provided few details and was "very upset" about the incident.
