IRVING, Texas (AP) Retail gasoline prices across Texas have dropped by an average of 2 cents this week to $3.10 per gallon.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the statewide figure compares to a national average of $3.29, which dropped by a penny from last week.

The most expensive gasoline statewide was in El Paso at $3.15 per gallon. The industry survey found Amarillo continues to have the cheapest price at the pump at $2.97.

AAA says prices in some areas of the country have increased due to extremely cold weather causing refinery issues. Officials say subzero temperatures have also decreased demand for gasoline, which could put some downward pressure on prices.
