GRIMES COUNTY - A retired Harris County Sheriff's Deputy has drowned after falling from a boat in Grimes County.

65 year old Donald Ray McBroom of Tomball was fishing early Saturday morning at the Yarborough Lake Fishing Club near Navasota.

Officials say McBroom and a passenger returned to the pier to get some equipment.

The boat was not secured to the pier and McBroom fell into the water.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
