Robertson County Fifth Graders Learn About Water Conservation

FRANKLIN, Texas - Fifth graders in Robertson County are learning all about water at a fun field trip.

250 students from all school districts in Robertson County were at the Franklin Community Park Friday morning to learn about water's important role in the world, how our aquifer works and how to protect it for the future.

Alan Day is General Manager for the Brazos Valley Groundwater Conservation District and says they are trying to teach the students all aspects of the groundwater supply.

"How to conserve it, preserve it, protect. How to keep from polluting, infiltration of water, how irrigation, how farmers use irrigation, how much water it makes to make a 12 inch pizza," said Day.

The field trip is something the county does every year. Robertson County Crimestoppers were also out there to cook hot dogs for the students.
