Rockdale Man Pleads Guilty In Unborn Infant’s Death

ROCKDALE (March 26, 2014) - Mark Allen Talley, 57, of Rockdale, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with an October 2012 auto-pedestrian accident that left a woman's unborn infant dead.

Talley pleaded open to Judge John Youngblood in the 20th District Court to driving a pickup truck along Mill Street, in Rockdale, when his truck struck a woman who was pushing twin infants in a stroller after they attended the Rockdale Fair.

The woman was injured, but the twins were not.

Youngblood accepted the open plea and ordered a pre-sentence investigation, then announced he would review the findings of the investigation and pronounce sentence on April 11.

At the time Talley was arrested for intoxication assault but when police learned the woman was pregnant and that she lost her baby as a result of the accident, the charge against Talley was upgraded to intoxication manslaughter.

A subsequent indictment in the case changed the charge to manslaughter, District Attorney Bill Torrey said.
