It is a day much of the world has been anticipating.
"It's such a fairytale that we dream about when we were young," says Texas A&M student, Caitlyn Holder.
Fans gathered in London, while many others sat at home to watch history unfold.
"It's so exciting and something that happens very few times throughout history," says Texas A&M student, Joanna Starling.
Although the ladies of Chi Omega have no connection to the royal family, that didn't stop Melanie Starling from throwing her own Royal Wedding bash in College Station.
"We were like if we are going to be watching them getting married we should at least be princesses ourselves," says Melanie Starling.
Dozens of giddy girls dressed in fabulous gowns were glued to the TV at 4 Friday morning.
"It feels wonderful being a princess for a day! exclaims Melanie Starling."
"I love being a princess for a day!" adds Holder.
"It kind of keeps the dream of being a princess alive for every girl," says Joanna Starling.
Sitting. Watching. Waiting. Some even tweeting as the soon to be princess emerged.
"It's just really cool to see the fact that a commoner can live this life as a normal person and now she is going to be royalty within a matter of minutes," says Joanna Starling.
Holder says a princess party isn't complete without a tiara.
"Of course you have to have a tiara and as little girls we dressed up and played princess and now actually getting to see someone like us becoming a princess is just really cool," adds Holder.
And although hearts may be broken now that Prince William is no longer on the market, Melanie Starling says she's still rooting for one more.
"You know Prince William that was our chance," Melanie Starling says. "But I'm not going to cry yet, we've still got Harry!"
And as Kate Middleton has proved, when it comes to commoners, anything is possible.
