Senate Poised for Budget Passage

The Senate is expected today to approve a two-year budget agreement designed to halt the repeated cycle of shutdown crises.

The measure would ease the harshest effects of automatic budget cuts which would otherwise soon go into effect.

The bill cleared a test vote yesterday with the help of 12 Republicans. However, several of them declared they would vote against final passage.
