Sheriff’s Office Chases Suspected Drug Dealer

Milam County Deputies and Rockdale Police Officers chased a man on foot through a south Rockdale neighborhood late Wednesday evening before losing sight of him in a thick wooded area. Sheriff’s Traffic Deputy Mike Hoyt initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near 5th and Pecan and when the vehicle stopped a black male exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Deputy Hoyt was joined by Rockdale Officers as they chased the subject into a wooded area near MLK and 5th street. After entering the woods the subject was seen throwing a bag of marijuana, which was recovered by Deputies. During the chase Deputies and Officers recognized the fleeing subject as Trent Mitchell a 23 year old resident of Rockdale.

Trent Mitchell was arrested in October by Sheriff Greene’s Special Investigation Unit which had conducted a seven-month long investigation into narcotics trafficking throughout Milam County. During that investigation Mr. Mitchell was charged with trafficking crack cocaine and marijuana in the Rockdale area.

After searching the wooded area for about an hour, Deputies and Officers called off the search for Mr. Mitchell. The Sheriff’s Office later obtained warrants for Trent Mitchell charging him with Felony Possession of Marijuana and Evading Arrest. The driver of the vehicle, Chrissy Davis, a 25 year old resident of Rockdale, was arrested at the scene for possession of drugs paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. Another passenger in the vehicle was cited and then released.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Trent Mitchell are asked to contact Milam County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-697-TIPS (8477). Milam County Crime Stoppers will pay cash for information leading to the apprehension of Trent Mitchell.
