Early morning severe weather has moved east of the Brazos Valley, taking the damaging wind and tornado threat out of the area as well. While the severe weather threat has passed, we'll need to monitor areas of minor flooding and down tree limbs on area roads. A tornado watch remains in place for most of the area -- however, that should be canceled by the National Weather Service shortly.
Proceeds from Shiro VFD BBQ fundraisers go towards training and trucks like this, which the crew built themselves. 26 April 2014
Good to Know:
GRIMES COUNTY - The Shiro Volunteer Fire Department in Grimes County held its annual Bar-B-Que fundraiser this afternoon at the Roans Prairie Community Center.
The money raised funds all aspects of the department, including its brand new brush truck that they built themselves.
"We do a lot of training. Last year we spent over $14,000 on training. We try to go to something every year...we're very fortunate for people to support us the way they do," said Chief Dan Sharron.
The volunteer fire department relies heavily on the community to support them throughout the year.
