ATLANTA KBTX viewers helped make an Atlanta teen's dream of going to the Chick-fil-A Bowl come true.
Cole Croteau, 16, said he refuses to let his Cystic Fibrosis get him down. Even when it meant spending Christmas at the children's hospital.
"I got lifelighted here on Christmas Eve because of breathing problems," said Croteau.
When the Texas A&M University football team stopped by to visit the hospital on Friday, Croteau, a diehard Aggie fan, said he wanted only two things.
"Hopefully to get out by Monday, and trying to go to the game," said Croteau.
One part of Croteau's wish would come true. He was discharged from the hospital on Monday. Thanks to KBTX viewers, the second part of his dream was also about to become a reality.
After Cole's story aired on KBTX, emails from Aggies near and far came pouring in. Aggies who wanted Croteau to go to the game and were willing to give up their own seats to make it happen.
Marjorie Janacek of College Station sent four tickets overnight to Atlanta, to the amazement of the Croteau family.
"I'm just completely excited about this," said Croteau. "It's just one of those things that brings joy and happiness to everything."
Cole's father, Eric, said the experience is something Cole will never forget.
"He spent a lot of time in the hospital over Christmas," said Croteau. "And this is just a big way of getting out of there. And we really do appreciate it."
In addition to the tickets, officials with Chick-fil-A donated four Fan Fest tickets to the Croteau family. Fan Fest is a pregame pet rally at the Georgia World Congress Center with games, interactive activities, food and more.
As far as the game is concerned, Croteau said he predicts a big win for the Aggies.
