The City of College Station has elevated its interim city manager to the role permanently.
Frank Simpson was unanimously voted in as the top city staff member at Thursday night's council meeting. He has been the interim since January's retirement of David Neeley.
According to the city, Simpson has been a deputy city manager since 2011. The Texas A&M graduate worked at the city as a utilities worker in 1986 while he was still in school. After getting his bachelor's degree in 1988, he worked at the city from 1989 to 1993 while working to get his master's at A&M, which he earned in 1990.
Since then, Simpson has worked as the city manager in Missouri City, Webster and Center, as well as an assistant city manager in La Marque.
Simpson is married with three children.
