Police are investigating a stabbing at Bryan gas station that sent a man to the hospital Saturday.

Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Jason Adams, and the suspect is 35-year-old Valentin Vega Jr.

According to police on scene, an officer was driving by the convenience store at the 200 block of N. Texas Avenue when he noticed a disturbance between two people.

Surveillance video recorded at a Shell gas station captured the moment when Vega stabbed Adams in the chest.

After talking to witnesses, investigators say the fight stemmed from relationship issues. Police say the victim, Jason Adams, used to be in a relationship with the suspect's girlfriend. Witnesses tell police the woman was leaving Valentin Vega, the suspect, to get back together with Adams. Police say Vega followed Adams and the woman to the gas station.

Investigators say a weapon has been recovered.

Adams was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan where officers say he was treated for a stab wound and collapsed lung.

Vega was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remained at the Brazos County Jail Sunday night with a $25,000 bond.
