Daniel Garcia, sanitation route manager for the City of College Station, was named one of the Texas Public Works Association’s equipment operators of the year at its state conference on Tuesday at the College Station Hilton.
A city employee since 1995, Garcia is responsible for residential brush and bulk collection for about 20,000 weekly customers. He is certified to operate six collection vehicles used by the Sanitation Division.
In May 2012, Garcia was cited in a letter to the editor published in The Eagle for “his professional ability to operate the clam shell bucket on his truck and being an artist at operating the equipment.”
“We are very proud and fortunate to have Danny on our team,” Public Works Director Chuck Gilman said. “He’s a very proficient equipment operator, manages his route efficiently and continuously receives praise from the residents he serves. Danny has great working relationships with his co-workers and supervisors, but above all he’s dedicated to providing excellent customer service to our citizens.”
