BRYAN - Police say a man shot and killed himself in the Target store parking lot just off Briarcrest Drive in Bryan Tuesday night, spurring a large police presence that caught the attention of shoppers.

Investigators say it happened around 8pm. Police say the public was not in danger, but they did have to mark off a section of the parking lot as an investigation scene, with some people unable to get back to their vehicles for awhile.

The man's identity has not been released, and out of respect to the family of the victim, KBTX does not plan to release the name once it becomes available. As a policy, KBTX does not cover suicides unless the death occurs in a public place or puts the public at risk.
