An amateur sports festival scheduled to take place this summer in Bryan-College Station could have an economic impact of more than $15 million.

College Station City Council got an update Thursday night on the Games of Texas, an Olympic style amateur sports festival scheduled for July 31st through August 4th.

It'll be hosted by College Station, Bryan and Texas A&M and it's funded by hotel occupancy taxes.

The event is estimated to bring about 30,000 people to the area.

That was only one of many items discussed at Thursday night's meeting.
