COLLEGE STATION - A pair of theft cases at College Station fitness facilities have led authorities to launch an investigation, one stretching beyond the city.
According to police, on Thursday, June 12, officers began investigating at a pair of facilities -- the Gold's Gym on Brentwood Drive and the Planet Fitness on South Texas Avenue -- where victims had their lockers broken into and their credit cards stolen. The cards were later used at area businesses.
CSPD investigators believe the same person is behind credit card thefts and quick use of the cards in other area communities.
The extent of the potential crime spree was not immediately released by CSPD.
The suspect is a Hispanic male around 6'0" tall and weighing around 300 pounds. He has what's described as a large, sun- or compass-shaped tattoo on his neck. The suspect was driving a vehicle described as being similar to a Chrysler 200.
If you have any information on the suspect or the crimes, you're asked to call CSPD at (979) 764-3600 or Brazos County Crime Stoppers at (979) 775-TIPS.
