Swope Comes Up Short in Video Game Cover Contest

Updated: Tue 7:04 PM, Mar 12, 2013

It was a close match-up between a pair of athletes from football crazy schools, but blue topped maroon in a vote to decide a video game's cover.

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson will appear on the cover of the next EA Sports NCAA Football game, the company announced Tuesday. Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope was the other finalist.

EA Sports did not note the final numbers in a press release Tuesday, but said Robinson earned more than a quarter of a million votes in a "tense final vote."

"Want to thank everyone for all the support during the NCAA Cover vote process. It was a blessing and an honor to represent Texas A&M #GigEm," Swope tweeted Tuesday.

A&M and Michigan were among 126 schools that fans voted for on Facebook. The two eventually reached the finals after five rounds of voting.

Swope caught 24 touchdowns among his 252 receptions for 3,117 yards during his Aggie career. His candidacy was boosted by, among other things, a video he did with Aggie trick shot makers Dude Perfect.
