TAMU System Talks About Kyle Field Renovation Process

The heart of Texas A&M University is changing, and the people behind the plans are speaking out.

Early this week the Texas A&M System filed a request for proposal to the state, which details the scope of the Kyle Field renovation.

There's no question if Kyle Field will be renovated, it's more about what changes will be made.

Steve Moore is with the Texas A&M System who says he has not seen any renderings of Kyle Field, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

Although the System office filed a request for proposal to the state that lays out the concept of Kyle Field, it took a committee to come up with the proposal.

"It was a varied group of people from all parts of the university from athletics, from 12th Man, from the university,” said Moore. “There were meetings about every 6 weeks I would say probably over the last year easily, and then other meetings, smaller group meetings, etc. It has been a very coordinated group. I would say no surprises. Everyone has worked together very well."

Now that the proposal is submitted, the next step is to have companies bid on the plan. Once a company is selected, the design process will begin.

As for home games staying at Kyle during renovations, Moore says that is definitely an option but not a guarantee at this point in the planning stages.

Moore says the university might even work with scheduling with the Southeastern Conference to stack home games so construction can be done during the season.

According to the proposal, completion of the project must take place by August 1, 2016.

The request for proposals from the A&M System has a deadline of December 7 at 2:00 p.m. for companies to bid on the project.
